Been watching a lot of shows on Mayans and other lost civilizations lately......


Good golly, I'm not quite sure how my FUNemployment got so busy! Today I have the deadline for a week long freelance that I've been on. Thurs our BFF is arriving for a long weekend of house-guesting (SO EXCITED OMG). Then next week we head down to the in-laws for a week! It's madness! SO uch cleaning and packing and prepping needs to be done.

ALSO there will be PUPPIES!!! My parents will be getting a new Pom/Chi puppy this weekend, which I will meet on Monday when we stop by on our drive down, and once we get to SC, Matthew's sister's shitzus just had a litter of pups!! OMG BABIES Y'ALL!! I am determined to lay down in the middle of a pile of wriggly fuzzy lovey puppies and not get up until it's time to go home.

In other news:

Can I just say how much I LOVE True Blood? OMG it is SO EMBARASSING BUT I LOVE IT. Plus, is it me or is there alot more shirtlessness this season? I SWEAR, the boys on that show must have pec implants or something, I can't imagine having a body like that and having any time to leave the gym!

Just some gals that have been in my head as of late, trying to get back into this "drawing" thing ;) I even resorted to paper while I make my transition from my old PC to the new Mac... I have to split my baby this week to install windows on her sos I may do some freelance, and the thought of ruining her pure Mac-ness TERRIFIES me! She's too pretty! I don't want to install anything on her!

GAH! My Imac arrived at my parents house this afternoon...THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING MEEEEEE! Why isn't it Friday yet???

A quick doodle while waitin' for din din....I can't get cat/birds out of my head, don't ask me why...I'd kinda like to work more on them because I'm not quite 100% satisfied with their heads/construction yet..

I drew more! Whee! Just a rough doodle done for a quick break from work. Apparently I'm way into things with wings and butts lately...though I see nothing wrong with that.

Seeing the tax man tonight..fingers are crossed for a substantial refund! XD

Oops! Fell off the daily drawing challenge only a few days in! LOL! Ah well, I am blaming it on the weekend..Sat was spent doing taxes, or rather organizing and itemizing expenses for our tax guy on Tues, and today Matthew and I actually got out of the house and went walking around Union Square in the beautiful weather. Both are things I either had to do, or could not do when I had freelance, so I still declare this weekend a success! Also on Sat. Matthew and I broke our diet and went to brunch at our favorite place, and I had THE MOST AMAZING WAFFLE. I declare our metabolisms "jump started", YAY SPRING!!!

Last night I did do this lil doodle though....Don't ask me where she came from...I kinda like her though:

Day 2 of april_drawing! The challenge was "Your Oldest Fandom" and how could I pass that up? Mine would have to be Gargoyles, and in it's honor I drew my very first fan-character, Ariel, Puck's OTP and general crazy pain in the ass... ;)

HAPPY APRIL GUYS!!!

Lots of good things seem to be going down in April thus far...for one thing: I HAVE OFFICIALLY LOST 22.5 LBS!!


And I'm FINALLY back in my old pants! OMG!! I am so excited! It's actually been pretty painless so far too, I hope it remains that way..I have hopes and dreams of changing my eating habits once and for all.

Also, my months and months of freelance have come to an end, which means FREE TIME!! HOLY HELL! I AM SO EXCITED to have my nights and weekends back, you have NO IDEA. I plan on spending this by focusing on getting back on the drawing for fun band wagon. I haven't done anything just for myself in SO LONG I've forgotten how to do it...so with that in mind, I've decided to bite the bullet and join karine's April Drawing Challenge over at april_drawing. That's one drawing a day for the month of April, I figure that might be the kick in the ass I've been needing lately...

Oh lordy guys, what a week it's been! I am SO GLAD it's Friday!

A lil observation from my doctor's appointment on Monday:

Sometimes I feel my doctor is a bit out of touch with his "demographic". NOTHING but Sports Illus. in his waiting room...I haaaaate when I forget to bring a book!

This weekend will be spent:

~ painting the corner of my bedroom
~ putting the new bed together
~ switching clothes from crappy Ikea drawers to sexy new dresser
~ Freelance (only 1 more week OMG GUYS)
~ Taxes

also there will be sleeping, cuddling, snuggling and relaxing. I AM SO EXCITED.

On a sad note : OMG GUYS LAST BSG EVER TONIGHT I AM SO SAD! I am crossing my fingers that The Pres and Adama get sucked into the singularity and end up in an afterlife were they live ADORABLEY AND HAPPILY EVER AFTER in their cabin by the lake. SO SAY WE ALL!!!!

So folks, enlighten me... Is it fashionable to wear fur coats again? Is this Kosher now? Because I have seen a TON of them out and about this winter. And not just on hoity-toity Upper East Side ladies either, young folks, old folks, women, men in Manhattan AND on the trains to Brooklyn. I mean...I guess they could be fake, but a lot of them make me doubt it. And I've seem some WACKY cuts too...one gall had this weird coat of what I assume was deer skins and the part over her butt appeared to be the actual fur from a deer's butt...the effect was far from flattering, it looked like a weird hairy ass..

This woman was my favorite tho...I appreciated the coat contrast on her and her dog...



Seems an odd trend since we're all on the Green Train to Enviro-town now!


IN OTHER NEWS:
OMG I GOT A DESK!!! It's gonna go in my new office/front hall and I AM SO EXCITED because it will look SO SEXY with our steel door and the new steel lights we bought last week!!! Also HOW HOT will it look with a sexy new Imac on it (ya know down the road when I can actually afford that pipe dream)>

Sort of belated, but HAPPY VALENTINES YA'LL!!


It's been far too long since I've doodled these two..I've missed them so! XD

I've had this on my comp for awhile, but things have once again gone crazy here. :P ;) V-day was FABULOUS though, we just took it easy and had YUMMY AMAZING DINNER at our favorite neighborhood restaurant. We also started seriously looking into redoing our kitchen, because our kitchen is HORRENDOUS. Of course we never do things small so it's become a whole ordeal of new cabinets and a stove and a dishwasher and TEARING DOWN A WALL. Matthew has grand ideas about doing all of this himself, but I'm still reserving judgment on that. At the moment we're just getting quotes and price shopping (O HAI IKEA!). I am slowly becoming SERIOUSLY EXCITED about the whole mess (and also dreading the whole ordeal) heehee!

In other exciting news, I got an email informing me that two of my pieces have been nominated in the 2009 R/HR AWARDS! "Lost in Translation" for Outstanding Missing Moment Nominees and Outstanding Tearjerker Nominees and "Happy Birthday Ron!" for Outstanding Humor Nominees I am SO FLATTERED GUYS!! Thank you SO MUCH for thinking of me (and sharing in my..ahem..obsession)!!! *BLUSH*

Good gravy it was windy today!!

I seriously did not know wind in NYC could do that....

All my posts seem to be about the weather lately...I'm not entirely sure what that says about my life right now....

OMG GUYS IT IS SO NICE OUT TODAY!!! I cannot get over it!


Small dogs are the warm weather indicators of NYC (they disappear indoors in the winter), and I saw a lil pompom on my way into work this morning. Double joy!

Of course I'm sure it will be in the 20s again next week, but I will take this 50 degree weather where I can get it. (O HAI Global Warming!)

I'm also kind of super excited about Valentine's day, because I'm a dork..and also because Matthew and I have made a dinner date at our favorite neighborhood restaurant. They usually have a special V-Day dinner, and last year's was FABULOUS. YUM YUM YUM!

I'm still on teh diet though, and I've sucked Matthew in as well, so now things are super hardcore.

Also I saw Coraline with muh grrls, jigglykat, macbeemer and basalt on Mon! OMG GUYS IT WAS SO AWESOME!! Seriously, a masterpiece. Puppet animation was never my thing in college, it made me want to bite things, so I have always been in utter awe of the folks who can do it and make it look so natural and beautiful. It just BLOWS MY MIND. I cannot wait til the DVD comes out with all the extras...I just want to watch all the behind the scenes footage I can find..PURE MAGIC

OH! And also, LJ seems to have given up notifying me by email whenever I get a comment on a post or a thread, just in case anyone think I might be ignoring them. It's so frustrating!! Has anyone else been having this problem, or should I be writing an angry email?

OMG GUYS NYC IS FREEZING OVER!! It is so damn cold today, that on the walk in to work I got an icecream headache from the AIR! WTF! The studio hasn't been much better either...GAH!

Also, I need a hair cut.

So I'm trying to get drawin' again...I realized yesterday that I haven't updated my portfolio or my website for TWO YEARS O.o How scary is that? So I've made it my own personal goal to get my artistic ass back in shape. I need to get myself inspired again...and not in a fan-art sort of way. I realized while going through my work from the last two years that most of it is fan-art related, and while I LOVE fan-art, I kinda fear that I have drawn myself into a rut. I need to find my artistic center again, if you will...relight the fire, get some new blood in there... But don't worry, this doesn't mean fan-art is dead to me, I'm sure I'll keep doing it, because it's like crack, and I am A BIG HUGE DORK....I just need to get some other stuff in the mix ;)

So with that in mind, I grabbed my disused sketchbook and did a random page of doodles while I waited on the hubby yesterday...



It's a mixed bag, but mainly I'm just proud of myself for forcing myself to do SOMETHING. We shall see where this all goes ;)

ALSO For my artistic/industry minded people...I'd LOVE some advice on areas you think I should focus on, stuff that you think my portfolio is missing (character work, finished layouts/Illustrations, life drawin' etc etc etc.) I know there's a lot I should improve on, I'm just not always sure where to start...I've been feeling a little lost artistically/professionally lately :P Any advice would be SO apreciated!!

It was Snape's birthday last Friday, so I took some time to doodle a bit in his honor!



Oh, how it did feel good to draw for fun again! I even got some time to work on my long over due commissions this weekend. So fun! I'm hoping to get some more "drawing for me" time in these days. It's been so long since I've drawn anything that wasn't work related, that when I do get the oppertunity, I become overwhelemed with a feeling of "OMG I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO" and shut down. It's a sad state of affairs people, a sad sad state. Perhaps I should make it my New Years resolution, to just "draw".

My other resolutions seem to be going well..made a lot of progress cleaning/organizing the house this weekend, and I discovered this morning that I've already lost about 3.5 pounds (!!!). So let's keep the good stuff rolling!

HO HO! Working from home has it's advantages..one of them being that I get to doodle fun things in my spare time... I need to get back in the habit of that!

In other news, when Matthew and I were out Christmas shopping last weekend, I totally caved and bought us a used copy of Katamari Darmacy for our old PS2 and I AM SO OBSESSED. I have to say I don't really have the attention span for video games anymore, I always either get frustrated or bored or feel like I should be doing something more productive, but every once and awhile a game will come along that will give my mind a nice mindless break ;) In college, replaying Super Mario World got me through my senior year, now I like to roll a lil sticky ball around and collect cute things, and it makes me happy. I love having some mindless video game to take my mind off all the craziness.

Golly where has the time gone?! I have so much to do before we head off for the holidays, it's MADNESS! Heres hoping the "Winter Storm Warning" they keep talking about for tomorrow will just be alot of talk...I don't want to start our trip off on a stressful foot!

OMG I am exhausted and FREEEZING and the weather is sooo shitty...what a sleepy day! Yesterday was utter hell, something wonky and horrid happened to me in the morning which may or may not have been virus related..On the way into work I started feeling dizzy and nauseous, so much so that I was literally afraid I wasn't going to make it to work and would pass out in the middle of Times Square somewhere... Luckily I made it to the office and immediately called Matthew to come pick me up and take me to the docs..my husband is an utter SAINT ladies and gentlemen. The doc took some blood and ran some tests, and gave me non nauseous meds, which have been AMAZING. I spent the rest of the day eating chicken soup and laying on the couch, and went to bed at 10pm...and yet I am STILL exhausted this morning...and now the office is freeeezing and it's not helping things....blaaargh.

In other news, have some art!! I finished this last week for my friend's themed show at her store, Barometer. The theme was "Upstate"...I really just enjoyed drawing a big doggy...I am slightly amused that the girl became a Weasley..I really did not intend for that to happen....
